First Fruits (and Vegetables)

Here are our first official 'pickings' from our garden. I took most of this to my boss. I kept the giganto zucchini squash and cut it into big chunks and added it to a pot of beans (along with some onion) that I pressure-cooked last night. Yummy . . .

There are some more squash that need to be picked today and we're just waiting for our tomatoes to ripen. Also, our spinach is doing well and we certainly have enough for a nice spinach salad.

Never heard of squash in beans before. I'm a fried squash freq. I love fried squash! Glad you're having good success with the garden.

Yes, I know squash in beans sounds weird, but it's really quite good.

I agree that fried squash is best! (And chicken fried steak and fried cheese and fried pickles and fried pies and french fries and fried . . . ) I've been known to make a pretty good batch of fried squash in my day, and I'm sure that's what will happen to part of the harvest--eventually.

But I try not to fry stuff too often. It's not good for Bigfoot's slim physique.

(It's kinda funny. My mom taught me to cook when I was very young. I soon figured out it was because SHE didn't want to do the cooking!)

Didn't say I wouldn't try it or maybe even like it. I don't care much for boiled squash, but do eat it. I just can't wrap my head around how it might taste in beans???

BTW I made a small pot of beans today with Rotel sauce, onion, sliced beef hot dogs and rice. Wasn't one of my best inventions, but wasn't bad.

Your mixture sounds really good to me. Like you, I also do a lot of what you might call "concoction cooking," especially when I'm drunk.
